Most Ecobee models are compatible with SmartThings, but check the SmartThings compatibility list for your specific model. Ensure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Use a Wi-Fi analyzer app on your smartphone or tablet. These apps display the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) in dBm. Aim for a signal strength of -60 dBm or better.
Microwave ovens, cordless phones, Bluetooth devices, and neighboring Wi-Fi networks can all cause interference. Try changing your Wi-Fi channel to a less congested one.
Ecobee thermostat fails to register temperature changes in SmartThings automation routines. Observed behaviour includes: trigger not firing, delayed response (>5 seconds), or 'Device Offline' status in SmartThings app. No error messages displayed on Ecobee thermostat itself; however, SmartThings event logs indicate communication issues.

Ecobee relies on cloud-to-cloud communication via the Ecobee cloud and the SmartThings cloud. Temperature data is transmitted as a JSON payload via API calls (HTTPS). Latency and reliability depend on network connectivity (Wi-Fi RSSI), cloud server status (Ecobee/Samsung), and SmartThings hub firmware. Zigbee/Z-Wave communication is not directly involved for cloud-based integrations.
