With proper maintenance and protection from extreme weather, a Lorex security camera should last 3-5 years in Canada.
Use a power adapter if possible. For battery-powered cameras, consider bringing them indoors during extreme cold or use a battery with a wider operating temperature range.
Use the 2.4 GHz band with a channel width of 20 MHz to reduce interference. Consider using a Wi-Fi analyzer app to identify less congested channels. Ensure WPA3 security is enabled.

Do not attempt to disassemble the camera housing yourself. This will void the warranty and could expose you to electrical shock hazards. If water ingress is suspected, disconnect the power supply immediately and contact a qualified technician. Ensure the replacement power adapter is certified to Canadian safety standards (CSA or UL).
Try gently tapping the camera housing (when powered off) to dislodge any loose connections or debris that may be affecting the sensor. This is a long shot but occasionally works in situations with minor internal cable disruption.
The Lorex camera captures video via a CMOS or CCD sensor. The video signal is processed by an onboard digital signal processor (DSP) and then transmitted wirelessly (typically 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) to a network video recorder (NVR) or the cloud. The vertical stripe suggests a failure in the sensor array, image processing pipeline, or the communication link between the sensor and the DSP.
The Lorex camera video feed displays a persistent vertical stripe or band of abnormal colour or distortion. This is visible on the local monitor (if connected) and the Lorex mobile application. No error codes are displayed in the app. LED indicator displays solid green, indicating normal operation according to the manual.
