Access the Helix gateway settings through the Videotron My Helix app or web portal. Look for options related to Wi-Fi configuration, firewall rules, and DHCP settings.
For the 2.4 GHz band, channels 1, 6, and 11 are typically the least congested. Use a Wi-Fi analyzer app to determine the best channel in your specific environment. The Videotron Helix gateway typically auto-selects the channel, but you can often override this setting.
Open the SmartThings app, navigate to the SmartThings Station device settings, and look for the firmware version information. The app will also usually prompt you to update if a new version is available.
Ensure the SmartThings Station is connected to a properly grounded electrical outlet. Do not attempt to disassemble the device, as this could void the warranty and pose an electrical hazard. Protect your Samsung account credentials and enable two-factor authentication to prevent unauthorized access. Disable remote access if not required. Be aware of privacy settings related to camera and microphone access when using voice control.
If the SmartThings Station fails to authenticate after a factory reset, try temporarily disabling the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band on the Videotron Helix gateway during the initial setup process. This can force the Station to connect to the 2.4 GHz band, which may be more reliable in some environments. Once the Station is authenticated, re-enable the 5 GHz band.

The SmartThings Station relies on a secure handshake process with the Samsung cloud and the local network managed by the Videotron Helix gateway. Authentication errors can stem from incorrect credential storage, DHCP lease conflicts within the Helix network, or firewall restrictions preventing communication to the Samsung cloud infrastructure. The Station also uses Zigbee/Z-Wave for local device control, which can be affected if the hub itself cannot authenticate.
