Channels 36, 40, and 44 are generally recommended, as they are less prone to interference and supported by most Ring devices.
Use a Wi-Fi Analyzer app on your smartphone or tablet. Walk to the location of the Ring device and measure the signal strength. A value above -70dBm is generally considered acceptable.
The default username/password is typically printed on a sticker on the router itself. If you have changed the credentials and forgotten them, contact Bell or Rogers support for assistance.
Ring devices commonly use 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi. P1-60 indicates failure to associate with the 5GHz access point. The device attempts a DHCP request, but the Rogers/Bell Giga Hub fails to issue an IP address. This often stems from channel incompatibility, or interference from other 5GHz devices. The Ring device has a radio with transmit power of 20dBm maximum.
Ensure proper electrical safety. Do not work on live circuits. When replacing batteries, use the correct type and polarity. Dispose of used batteries properly. Secure the Ring device physically to prevent tampering.
- Regularly update the firmware on both the Ring device and the Wi-Fi router. - Periodically check the Wi-Fi signal strength at the device location using a Wi-Fi Analyzer app. - Avoid placing the Ring device near sources of RF interference, such as microwaves or cordless phones. - Assign a static IP address to the Ring device on the Rogers/Bell Giga Hub to prevent DHCP conflicts.
If the Rogers Ignite Wi-Fi Hub is used, try disabling the "Band Steering" feature. This forces the Ring device to connect to either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz network explicitly, improving connection stability.
