Ensure power to the smart lock is disconnected (remove batteries or disconnect C-wire) before performing any maintenance or repairs. Do not attempt to disassemble the motor or motor driver circuit without proper training and equipment. Protect your data by using strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication. Be aware of physical tampering vulnerabilities (e.g., forced entry) and reinforce door frames as needed.
The Weiser smart lock often has a “three-tap reset sequence” on the interior side’s programming button. Tapping and holding the button after a battery change will force a recalibration of the bolt position and motor limits. This often resolves minor binding issues or humming that starts shortly after a battery replacement.
The Weiser smart lock uses a DC motor to drive the bolt mechanism. The motor is controlled by a microcontroller that receives signals from the keypad, app, and internal sensors. The humming is likely caused by the motor attempting to move the bolt against resistance, or by the motor driver circuit oscillating due to a fault. Communication occurs primarily over Z-Wave or Zigbee protocols within the 900MHz band. Power is derived from AA batteries or a C-wire.
